If you have ever seen Jennifer Lopez movies you already know that she found her fame in the biographical movie she did in 1997 about Selena. She earned an ALMA award for Outstanding Actress. Some of her movies did very well, while others were not critiqued so vibrantly.

She began as a dancer in In Living Color and then progressed to the 1995 action-thriller movie called the Money Train. The Money Train was depicted as one of the subway trains which hauled all the money fares the people in New York paid to ride the subway, which as you can imagine, was a huge amount of money. The movie itself was controversial in that a crime that was portrayed in the film was actually tried by a person in New York that, naturally, put the film in a bad light as there were some high officials in the city calling for a boycott of the film. It cost almost $69,000,000 to make and only took in approximately $36,000,000. So, that one didn’t fare very well.

She starred in the 2001 movie called the Wedding Planner, which was a great hit for Jennifer Lopez movies, in that she had a #1 movie hit and also a #1 Album, J Lo, making her the first actress in history to have both a #1 album and a #1 movie in the same week. Then, in 2002 she starred in Maid in Manhattan, which was a romantic comedy, and in 2004 Shall We Dance, with Richard Gere. Shall We Dance grossed over $170,000,000 in home and International showings, 2005 Monster in Law which earned almost $158,000,000 world wide, and in 2010, The Back up Plan, grossing almost $77,000,000 world wide, at last count.

One of her Jennifer Lopez movies, Bordertown, earnedher an Artists For Amnesty International award for her work in the film which was about hundreds of women who are now and have been murdered in Juarez, Mexico. She also has a perfume line, fashion line, and she is currently on the judging panel with the American Idol. She is married to singer Marc Anthony and they are parents together of fraternal twins. Jennifer Lopez lives in New York.
